Laroque des Albères
This is a 200 year-old house in the attractive French village of Laroque des Albères. The house is typical of the village - a terraced house with three floors: the ground floor would originally have been used to keep animals or farm implements - now we use it as a utility and storage area; the first floor is a combined living/dining/kitchen room covering the whole area of the house; the top floor has two double bedrooms and a shower-room with a basin and toilet. The house has been extensively renovated during 2002/2003.
It is located in a pleasant street, only a short walk from the village centre with its shops and restaurants. There is also a small bar/restaurant - Casa Mimi, run by Mimi and Nico - nearby, where you can enjoy a quiet drink or delicious home cooking. The slightly larger La Cueva, is five minutes walk away, by the old castle. In the opposite direction, towards the new village centre, there is a choice between Les Palmiers and the Café des Artistes, the first a 'gastronomic' restaurant, the second serving typical French dishes on a fixed-price menu.
- The house consists of four rooms:
- The main living area is a sejour/cuisine (an open-plan lounge/dining-room/kitchen) on the first floor
- Sleeping accomodation is in two bedrooms (one with a double-bed and the other with two singles) on the second floor. There is also a combined toilet and shower room on this floor.
- Finally there is a utility/storage/play area on the ground floor
- The total surface area is approximately 80 m2 / 861 sqft, the century of construction was around 1800 (the stone for the walls probably came from the abandoned castle in the village centre) and the date of the last renovation was 2003

- The large lounge/dining room has two double settees, a coffee table, a dining table and four chairs.

- The master bedroom contains a double bed with integral bedside tables and lights and a large fitted wardrobe. The twin bedroom contains two single beds, a bedside table and light and a large fitted wardrobe. All the rooms have French windows and a small balcony.
- Bedding is provided (pillows and duvets), as are sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers and bath & hand towels.
- The property has a well-fitted shower room with toilet, wash basin and large shower. There is a storage unit for personal effects and the room has an electric wall-heater.

Please note that the open tread staircase in our house may make it unsuitable for the very elderly or the very young. You should also note that the house is in a working village, and there will be some noise from traffic, and visitors to the village, at some times during the day.
